Lesley et al1 present a retrospective series of 20 patients with epistaxis who underwent endovascular embolization using eV3-brand detachable fibered platinum coils (DFPC). Coils were deposited in the internal maxillary arteries either ipsilateral to the site of hemorrhage or in some cases bilaterally. The authors report 100% technical success and 95% procedural success during 30-day telephone follow-up. There were no strokes, and one death during the follow-up period from unrelated causes. The authors conclude that this method is safe and effective for treatment of uncontrollable epistaxis.
