We greatly appreciate the response of Mehta and colleagues to our paper.

The ADAPT FAST study was an unfunded multicenter registry conducted independently by a group of committed physicians in an effort to further the understanding of stroke treatment. This was not a grant-funded prospective randomized trial. Revascularization assessments were made by the operators rather than a blinded independent core laboratory.
