• We do not give medical advice
• eLetters are not sent to the author, please use details in the article to contact authors directly
• Please declare any competing interests at the bottom of your text
• To avoid making points that have already been made, please read other people's responses before posting your own

Tables and figures:

• HTML versions of tables may be included in your submission
• Otherwise, please send tables (as a Word doc) and figures (.jpg, .gif, .tif) as an email attachment to: eletter-figures{at}bmjgroup.com
• Please include your name, eLetter title, and legend text in the email

Submit as:

eLetters submitted as Text will be formatted for you. To ensure that your response is not formatted as one long paragraph, precede new paragraphs with either a blank line or an indentation. Your exact spacing is not retained when submitted as text.

eLetters submitted as HTML are not formatted by us. Only the formatting you provide will be used in the display of your eLetter. If you wish to include a table in your eLetter, the entire eLetter must be in HTML, the table itself must be tagged as an HTML table, and the "HTML" button must be selected.
