Edited by Timo Krings, Sasikhan Geibprasert, Karel G ter Brugge. 1st Edition, 2011. Published by Thieme Medical Publishers, Inc, New York, pp 464 (paperback). ISBN: 978-1-60406-373-8.

Authors of books on neurointervention are presented with two challenges. The first is the relative newness of the field with a consequent limited volume of published material and scientific data. The second challenge is the technical nature of the specialty, whose nuances are often difficult to convey in the printed word. The recently published Case-Based Interventional Neuroradiology textbook from the widely respected group in Toronto aims to address both these challenges, and is a most welcome addition to the field.

The book is authored by Timo Krings, Sasikhan Geibprasert, and Karel ter Brugge, all of whom were members of the late Professor Pierre Lasjaunias' famous school, making the dedication “To our teachers” a poignant one. The skill, experience and knowledge of these authors are unimpeachable. In publishing the current text, the efforts of the authors have been augmented by 11 contributors from Switzerland to Thailand, credited at the beginning of the book. The thoughtful foreword is penned by Professor Luc Picard, the President of the World Federation of Neuroradiological Societies.

The book is published by Thieme Medical Publishing Group. The publication quality is high with visually pleasing page material, font, color choices and layout, including an excellent index. The cover is the distinctive blue and silver of Thieme, with only a soft cover option available. Pricing is reasonable, considering the quality and content of the product. Purchase of the book additionally allows one year of free access to Thieme's online neuroimaging cases through the searchable online database RadCases (http://RadCases.thieme.com).

The book consists of a series of 72 individual cases spread over 435 pages and augmented by over …
