The demographics of stroke and the indications for mechanical thrombectomy (MT) headline this issue much as they have done for the past year. Other highlights include: the description of a clot banking protocol, an analysis of pediatric aneurysm treatment, a population-based examination of the incidence of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), and an assessment of venous drainage after sinus stenting. This variety reflects the dynamic nature of our field.In an update of its previous work, the Standards and Guidelines Committee of the Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery reports the indications for MT in acute ischemic stroke (AIS).1–3 Current evidence supports MT up to 24 hours from symptom onset in patients with anterior circulation AIS who meet specific clinical and radiographic criteria.
