At the time of writing this in mid-November, the virus has not relented. Our hospitals are overflowing and the holiday season is more of a time of worry than one of celebration. After a summer of racial turmoil, the USA endured its most contentious election in history. The promise of a vaccine and relative political stability provide some hope for the new year.Despite these troubling events, the JNIS marched on in what was probably the best year in its history. Unfortunately, we were not able to celebrate this in person at our annual meeting. Of note, the journal received a record number of submissions in 2019 (more than 1000) and is on pace to surpass that number in 2020. Amazingly, submissions to the journal surged during the earliest days of the pandemic.
